Susan Murray

Winner of the first ever Jongleurs Competition and a seasoned regular on the circuit, Susan has emerged as one of the best female stand-ups in the UK and has just become the first ever woman to MC Decompression gigs for the British Army / CSE. She is in the top 100 Huffington Post funny women Tweeters. Susan was also recently short listed for the BBC’s year long comedy writing bursary.

As well as writing for BBC Radio 4’s “The Now Show”, “Newsjack” and “News Quiz” she has written and performed four solo shows; 21st Century Fox (themed on the modern day phenomenon of internet dating); ‘The Glottal Stops Here’ ( a show all about accents), ‘Photo Booth’ ( anecdotal show about her obsession with passport photos) and “Eyes Down For a Full Murray” ( gag filled show about life’s annoyances ) sees Susan going from strength to strength with a more personal theme that showcases her knack for storytelling and characterisation. Her warmth and razor-sharp wit are winning over new audiences for her growing fan base.
As well as writing and performing for BBC Radio 1 on ‘The Milk Run’ she also received a writing bursary from the BBC Northern Comedy Dept. More recently she wrote and starred in the topical web show ‘Britain’s Got People’ with Dave Cohen ( Have I Got News For You/ Horrible Histories). Her versatility means that as well as corporate gigs Susan works Biker Festivals and music festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, The Big Chill, Reading, V, Endorse It In Dorset, Download. Acting credits include starring in the TV comedy drama “Love, Lies and Lipstick” for ITV, Arthur Smith Sings Leonard Cohen (Pleasance, Edinburgh Festival and Garrick London) and Itch Scratch at The Pleasance Theatre.

Susan is fast becoming a regular comedy writer for BBC Radio 4 and has just been invited by the Radio Comedy Dept to apply for their much coveted year long Writing Bursary. At the other end of the scale she has toured the UK with Puppetry Of The Penis. She regularly contributes to various comedy podcasts and radio. She runs and MCs the successful Guffaw comedy club east London. And as if this isn’t enough Susan is the organiser of the now legendary Comedian’s Christmas Party.
