The Comedy Course Brighton

Standups Teaching Standup

Dave Thompson is the man to go to learn and help you on your comedy career. His course, with great constructive feedback and unwavering encouragement, gave me the self belief that I can do this - and I will, so watch this space!

Having already performed Stand Up for a while I wanted the confidence to move out of my comfort zone and try new types of comedy, in particular character based. Dave's course gave me the confidence to push my boundaries and the detailed constructive feedback has opened the door for me to loads of new comedy opportunities.  Whether an absolute novice or a seasoned professional, anyone who enjoys making people laugh will benefit from the course - I cant recommend it highly enough!

In his comedy classes, Dave has an eye for individual strengths and potential, which I reckon comes from his great understanding of comedy, and his respect for how diverse it can be. A good balance practical feedback and a bit of theory and structure, Dave helped me figure out what plain 'works'. Personally, I still don't think I ook like Rolf Harris, but I wouldn't have gotten up for my first gig without his encouragement

In Dave Thompson's course I got trained in the nuts and bolts of structuring a 10-minute spot, I learned about -- get this! -- comic THEORY (ha!) and I discovered my own particular comic strengths. Dave left me with tools that I am now working with. In addition, he is just a helluva person. Take the class!

Dave Thompson using twenty years of experience as a pro comedian. Taught us like a judo black belt. We learnt that, to make em laugh- you have to catch people on their back foot, take them by surprise- and it works

I have to say, this course has been life changing.

To what extent it will change my life though, is up to me. Susan Murray and Simon Fox have given me the tools, now I need to get out there and use them. I only left the course two weeks ago and already I have ten gigs booked in the diary. Scary but amazing!

I would seriously recommend this course to anyone. If you do public speaking, presentations at work or you genuinely want to attempt a career as a Stand-Up Comedian, this is definitely the course to do.

Susan and Simon were amazing. They imparted their many, many years of professional experience to us Newbies with love, sometimes brutal, honesty, always encouragement and total professionalism….and they’re both really funny.

I’m not saying it is easy, but, as the old cliche goes, nothing that’s worth doing in life is easy.

I promise you, if you do this course, your life will be changed forever.

And, besides, it’s much cheaper than seeing a therapist.

The Comedy Course, run by Susan Murray and Simon Fox, is SO good - Totally fantastic from start to finish.

It is only six weeks long, so its very easy fitting it into a busy life style.

The teaching is relaxed, fun and totally supportive.

A brilliant "hands on" course for anyone wanting to dip their toes in the comedy bath... Five Stars

My decision to sign up with The Comedy Course and learn the skills required for stand-up comedy was one of the best I've ever made.

Under the superb guidance of Susan Murray and Simon Fox, I and my fellow students gained a wonderful in-sight into how to craft jokes, a comedy routine and entertain a crowd.

Upon completing the course, we all shared in a hilarious, and sold-out, Showcase evening - which will be remembered for a long time to come.

Anyone seeking an enjoyable, relaxed and rewarding comedy course should en-role in this one. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Taking The Comedy Course brought me from merely having the idea I'd like to do stand-up, through to writing my own material, on to actually performing and now looking for paid gigs.

I found it personally challenging, surprisingly hard work, but ultimately very rewarding and great fun.

I won't say it was easy, but I was given a supportive base on which to develop and create new ideas.
Highly recommended.

If you are looking for something to get your teeth into, push your nerve and hone your personal comedic style then do this course!
It’s all about being creative, sharing your ideas and helping each other out, and be prepared to put time in outside of the ‘classroom’ to get the best results.

Doing the live show was nerve wracking but such fun and so great to be able to support each other.
I’ve loved every minute of the course and look forward to what may happen next!

The Comedy Course was absolutely brilliant.
Susan & Simon take absolute novices and hand-hold them through gag writing, joke structure, building a routine and stage-craft, all done in a nurturing and highly entertaining way.

As professional comedians and writers they also impart nuggets of wisdom about the industry and how to get your comedic career underway. I can’t thank them enough for such an informative and educational 6 weeks, really first-class.

If you think you’re funny, they’ll make you funnier.

The course was great. I actually wondered whether there was any point in doing a course in comedy, but I quickly realised the benefits. It is just what you need to get over any fears you may have about trying comedy out. I feel confident to go and do it anywhere now.
